The evil eye is a “look” or “stare” that is believed to bring bad luck for the person at whom it is directed. Envy or dislike is the most common cause for evil.
In my culture, the evil eye is referred to as μάτι (mati), in Greek “μάτι” . It is a universal talisman symbol, that protects you from evil spirits, first noticed back in the 6th century B.C.
What inspired me to illustrate this, stems from my grandma’s advice to always wear one, to protect myself.
Other than that, I truly believe, that eyes are the windows to the soul – which makes this Illustration speak to me even more, because it stores every interpretation you could possibly imagine when you give it a look.
